Born alongside her twin brother Kalvi, Klara enjoyed a comfortable few years. Her parents spoiled the two of them, with relatively low expectations and few responsibilities, the two regularly ran off on their own. Not long after Klara turned five she discovered an odd magical affinity with fire; despite their parents' warnings she and Kalvi enjoyed experimenting with the flames.

Not even a week before Jasper and his siblings were born Klara lost control of her abilities. Accidentally setting alight a large field of dry grass she caused a flash fire that burned across Gunvald, killing Kalvi and two citizens. Frightened, devastated, and overwhelmed Klara's parents hid her at home, insisting she stay hidden for fear of her being convicted of a crime despite it being an accident.

After the incident, Eivind and Kamilla were paranoid and controlling, not offering the same carefree childhood to Jasper and all his siblings, least of all Klara. She spent the rest of her childhood confined at home, certain that her parents despised her. Once she reached the age of twelve she'd had enough; she packed a bag and left in the night.

Young and inexperienced Klara did not have an easy few months on her own, she was taken in by traveling caravans but eventually, she would be caught stealing or she would frighten them with her magical outbursts. Ultimately she always ended up on her own. After nearly a year of barely scraping by, Klara was a witness to a group of bandits robbing a family. Rather than help, Klara watched on. The group noticed her and threatened her life; upon seeing her nonchalance at the threat at such a young age the leader proposed she be taken under their wing. Seeing no better alternative, Klara agreed to a life of crime.

Since joining the band, Klara learned how to hone her magical abilities to a fault and eventually took up a solo career of intimidating merchants and robbing rich families. She found her new life ultimately more satisfying than being at 'home' with her family.
